New Computer
A few weeks ago I decided to upgrade my computer. I pretty much replaced everything except for the case and crappy IDE HDD's. I already think I should've spent more money on better parts, but I can't complain because it's a lot faster than what I had before - AMD 2800+ Barton (~1.8GHz - Single core), 256 MB GeForce 6800, and 2GB of RAM.
Here are the stats:
- CPU: AMD Phenom 9550, 2.2GHz (Quad Core)
- RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB DDR2 @ 1066)
- PSU: 700 Watts of power
- Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GPM Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
- Video Card: Saphire Radeon HD 3870 1GB 256-bit GDDR4 Video Card
Some things I wish I did differently: bought the Phenom 9950 instead of the Phenom 9550, and I wish I got a motherboard that supported crossfire. Other than that, I love my new rig. I also got a 22" Acer HD monitor, which really made the new parts hit home. The difference between DVI and VGA is amazing.
